About the Institute

The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies is Nigeria’s apex institution for research and advanced studies in law. It was a brainchild of the legal academic community established in March 1979. One of the main ideas in founding the Institute was to establish it as the centre for advanced legal research for all the Nigerian universities with Faculties of Law, so that all postgraduate work could be undertaken there under the joint auspices of the most experienced and learned academic lawyers available in the country, whether indigenous or foreign.

Professor Oluyinka Omorogbe has been appointed the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Edo State.  She was sworn in on July 6, 2017

by the Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

She is an accomplished scholar and is a former Secretary to the Corporation and Legal Adviser, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) a position she held until July 2011 and a former Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan.

Until her appointment, she was a Research Professor (Nabo Graham Douglas Distinguished Professor of Law) at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Nigeria.

The Management and Staff of the Institute congratulate Professor Oluyinka Omorogbe on her appointment and wish her a very successful tenure!
