The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in Collaboration

with Attorneys General Alliance | Africa Alliance Partnership (AGA|AAP represented in Nigeria by Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors) trains Prosecutors, Defence lawyers and Judges on Oral Advocacy & Electronic Evidence.

In view of the dearth of proficient Oral Advocacy amongst our lawyers today and the insufficient knowledge of the requirements and procedure for admissibility of electronic evidence the need for this workshop became imperative.

The 3 day workshop which took place at the Sheraton Hotel Abuja on the 2nd -4th October, 2019 was declared open by the Director General of Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Professor M.T Ladan and had over a hundred and twenty (120) participants in attendance ranging from senior and junior members of the bar, Judicial officers to counsels from the Federal and State Ministry of Justices.  In his welcome speech he reiterated the need to properly interpret section 84 of Evidence act in Line with section 34 of same act which points to the weight to be attached to the evidence.

The workshop which was very interactive addressed some of the topical issues plaguing our legal system such as mode of presentation of Evidence; Fundamentals of Oral Advocacy; Cross-Examination, Impeachment by Prior Inconsistent Statement, Electronic Evidence under the Nigerian Law, issues of objections etc and was facilitated by eminent jurists such as Chief Anthony Idigbe, SAN, Dr Elachi Agada, Mr Fola Arthur- Worrey, Sierra Wallace, Andrea Williams, and Muriel Malone who brought the American experience.
